About Me From a young age I have always had a strong passion for film, music and art in general. Outside of education I have always indulged my creative side. As a great fan of music I was taught to play the Piano, long after I taught myself to play Guitar and recently I have started to try learning saxophone. I am greatly influenced by music of all genres and this I believe is one of my many advantages as an Editor/Sound Designer: when editing, I work with the rhythm and pace of footage. As I have already mentioned I am quite afilm fanatic, I aspire to a lot of filmmakers and their styles but more than anything I enjoy working on films as much as I love watching them. I like to collect horror films, cult classics and low budget films and many more, through these I seem to be developing my own style of narrative in editing. Over the years I have written a lot of my own work, both poetry and prose. At the moment I have 2 projects, scripts that I have been developing but cannot find myself letting them go to someone else, so now these stories have become my new project, turning them into graphic novels/comics. I am very keen artist at the best of times and feel that the only way to translate my scripts the way I want them is through comic form. I recently became very interested in the media after writing about them for my final year dissertation at university, from this I have found another vocation to explore.
Personal Experience During my 3 years at the Northern Film School, I have enjoyed a great number of experiences and met amazing people. What I enjoy most is the atmosphere within a film crew when working to achieve something. I've specialised primarily in Post-Production; Editing and Sound Design, but also studied Directing and Cinematography. I like to get involved as much as possible when working on a film and in the past I have joined in as Casting Director, Set Designer, Art Director to even minor roles such as Runner.
So far, I've worked on BBC Crimewatch as part of my work experience whilst studying at university, within the 4 weeks of my placement I was introduced to the television side of the industry with the BBC which has taught me a great deal of what to expect in the future as well as the benefit of working in a professional environment. I look forward to continuing my career after University and I'm looking for anything available from editing to runner.
